Keyboard layout switcher: three polls to vote on

I am doing a little survey on how keyboard layout indicator is used and would appreciate if you could vote on those three polls to the right of this post.
Thanks in advance!

  1. I wonder if there’s a way to make it possible to distinguish different layouts from the same country. At the moment, the indicator doesn’t help a lot if you use an alternative layout such as dvorak/neo and want to switch between this and your standard layout.

  2. @fliegenderfrosch: I use it to switch between standard german layout and neo and it works quite well.Unter "Belegungen" in the systemsettings you can choose between flag and text as indicator. With flags it is useless, because in both cases the same flag is shown. But with a text label ("de" or "neo") everything is alright.

  3. hi, i use the layout switcher to get write arabic, so just from time to time. for that purpose i use the virtual keyboard (plamsaboard). what would be great to have possibility to switch the layout only for the plasmaboard, than i could leave the plasmaboard on arabic and the rest in german. is it possible to implement this feature?

  4. I have configured caps lock to change my layout... Quite handy, because normally caps lock is only good for accidentally switching to capital letters :)

Btw, I don't really understand the two last poll questions...

  5. @guenthermeinet: theoretically it should be possible but currently I could not find an easy way to remember layout per applet; if your applet is on desktop then fixing https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=269661 should help, if it's on the panel then we need a full support for applet focus switching notification (for which I could not find a solution, see http://www.mail-archive.com/kde-core-devel@kde.org/msg01930.html)

  6. @Tuukka: seems like you're using modifier-only (Shift+Ctrl, Caps lock, Win key) and it's handled by x.org, the other one is KDE shortcut, you can't use modifier-only for this one so it'll be something like Ctrl+Alt+K etc

  7. For layout switching shortcut I selected Main, but you should know: I configure CapsLock to switch layouts as I do it often.
